1 Peter 3:18 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”

This past Sunday we dove back into  1 Peter 3:18-24 “Jesus Suffered For You.” (message link to listen to sermon)

Peter was, writing to churches that were truly going through real suffering and persecution. What difficulties are you facing today? Are they driving you to Jesus or for some reason are you allowing the enemy to lure you away from Jesus? Paul wants them to know that whatever you’re going through today, Jesus suffered for you! Now, I’m not sure how familiar you are with the writings of CS Lewis, but he always seems to hit the nail right on the head. In his book, The Problem of Pain, he says, “We can rest contentedly in our sins and in our stupidities, and everyone who has watched gluttons shoveling down the most exquisite foods as if they did not know what they were eating, will admit that we can ignore even pleasure. But pain insists upon being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciences, but shouts in our pains. It is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world.”

I pray, that whatever you’re facing today God by His Spirit and by His grace would enable you to say, ‘Lord, help me to learn what you want to teach me, help me to hear what you want to say to me, and help me to live in a way that pleases you.’

By His Spirit,
Pastor Bill
